Video: Katangees entertain Akufo-Addo
About a dozen members of the Washington D.C. branch of the alumni of University Hall (Katanga) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), on Friday gathered and chanted songs to the admiration of President Nana Akufo-Addo.
The alumni were part of Ghanaian residents in the diaspora, who met Mr Akufo-Addo at a town hall meeting in Washington D.C., as part of the president’s trip to the United States of America for the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Using the president’s name in some of the traditional ‘jama’ songs of Katanga, the alumni, all dressed in yellow vests with Katanga insignia, chanted songs as they clapped and danced amidst drumming to the pleasure of the president.
Mr Akufo-Addo, later informed the Katangees that he has taken the necessary steps to address the tussle between the management of KNUST, on the one side; and the students and alumni on the other side, in relation to conversion of the two all-male halls of residence into mixed-gender halls.
