VIDEO: Former Deputy Minister exposed over Pwalugu multipurpose dam

Former Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Mohammed Murtala Mohammed last Saturday on Joy Fm’s news analysis programme, Newsfile exposed himself when he suggested that the claim the Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam and Irrigation Scheme is the largest single investment in the northern part of Ghana is false

He asserted that the statement as claimed by President Nana Addo Dankwa  Akufo-Addo could not be true.

But his counterclaim on the show was exposed as rather false, with the host of the programme, Samson Lardy Anyenini, reading out the details of the project which clearly shows that the President’s claim is accurate.

This left the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Tamale Central with no option but agree to the statement attributed to the President

Mr Murtala Mohammed sought to suggest that the President meant that he was doing something that no other government had done for the people of the north but he was corrected to the facts of the statement that the President made (which is that he said the project is the single largest project to be executed in the north).

The President last Friday cut sod for the construction of the Pwalugu Multipurpose and Irrigation Scheme at the cost of $ 993 million in the Upper East Region.

The Project is expected to be completed in fifty (50) months.

Addressing a durbar of chiefs and people of the Upper East and North East region of Ghana in Pwalugu and to cut sod for the project to begin last Friday, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said government is committed to starting and finishing the project as scheduled.

“As we further indicated to our commitment to the realisation of this project, the total cost of the project amounting to some $993 million nearly a billion dollars to be borne entirely by government”, he said.
