Nollywood actresses Funke Akindele and Toriola clash with Chef T

Nollywood actresses Funke Akindele and Wunmi Toriola have expressed their dissatisfaction with the actions of celebrity Chef T, also known as Diary of a Kitchen Lover, whose real name is Tolani Tayo-Osikoya over her decision to ignore their messages regarding a collaboration.

Toriola took to her Instagram story to share a screenshot of her reaching out to the culinary influencer in August of last year, expressing her interest in appearing on one of her cooking episodes as part of a promotional push for her film debut.

However, Chef T never responded to the message. The actress slammed Chef T for acting too big to participate, suggesting that the food blogger has distanced herself from others since her popularity.

In another post, Toriola praised those who, despite their success, continue to foster healthy cooperation in the entertainment and content creation industries.

According to reports, renowned filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele unfollowed Chef T on Instagram for allegedly refusing to promote her movie and in return, Chef T unfollowed the actress.

The culinary chef has yet to address the issue. However, food critic, Opeyemi Famakin has defended Chef T and declared support for her while condemning Wunmi Toriola for attacking the celebrity chef.

He questioned the decision of Wunmi and Funke to attack the food blogger for declining to collaborate with them. Opeyemi praised Chef T for her collaborations with people, including upcoming social media influencers.

The food critic pointed out that people are not entitled to the food blogger’s collaborations. Opeyemi stated that Wumi Toriola, who claimed to be a fan of Chef T, was quick to drag her because she ignored her request for collaboration.

He said: “We don’t do Chef T slander here, Chef T is a sweetheart. Chef T is positively contributing to the food space in Nigeria, Africa and I’m not going to stand and watch one actress who did not get a collaboration drag the person’s name. We don’t do that here.”

Opeyemi Famakin’s video caught the attention of the actress, who responded in his comment section.

She wrote: “Dear Opeyemi, “There’s really no need to act like a coward. My name is Wumi Toriola, and I’m merely responding to your tantrums and desperate need for attention – if it brings you even a shred of relevance, I truly don’t mind.

“It’s rather amusing, though, coming from someone without a defined career or any tangible job description. You’ve caused more harm than good to struggling entrepreneurs, all under the guise of being a self-appointed food critic.

“Next time you feel the urge to come for me, perhaps take a moment to reflect, establish a long-term career or build a successful business of your own. That way, your words might carry a little more weight.

“Sincerely, Wumi Toriola”

The issue has sparked a debate among Nigerians on social media.

Jumping into conclusions or thinking for her is not just nice to me she should have msg her again or call her digit that if she has…..my opinion though. I come in peace.”
