British-Nigerian businessman and social media personality Igho Ubiribo, a friend of Nigerian music star Davido, died after complications from a cosmetic procedure he underwent during a trip to Bangkok, Thailand.
Ubiribo, who was 43, died in March 2026 while on holiday in Thailand with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen. An inquest at the Inner West London Coroners’ Court later examined the circumstances surrounding his death.
According to evidence presented during the inquest, Ubiribo underwent a cosmetic procedure at an unnamed clinic in Bangkok. He later became unwell while spending time with his wife and was taken to hospital.
Doctors suspected that he had suffered a pulmonary embolism, a serious condition involving a blockage affecting blood flow to the lungs. He was subsequently transferred for intensive medical care, but efforts to save his life were unsuccessful.
A postmortem examination conducted in the United Kingdom later provided further information about the cause of death. Pathologists found material in Ubiribo’s lungs that was consistent with the substance used during the cosmetic procedure.
The findings supported the conclusion that the procedure had contributed to the pulmonary embolism.
Coroner Jean Harkin subsequently ruled that Ubiribo died from a pulmonary embolism caused by the cosmetic treatment carried out abroad.
The case has attracted attention because Ubiribo was a well-known social media personality who regularly shared aspects of his lifestyle with his followers. Reports indicate that he had about 185,000 followers on Instagram.
He was also known by the nicknames “Tiny,” “Denisi” and “Ego” and had established a public profile as a businessman and influencer.
Ubiribo’s death has generated renewed discussion about the risks associated with cosmetic procedures and the importance of ensuring that medical treatments are carried out by appropriately qualified professionals in properly regulated settings.
Medical experts have previously warned that cosmetic procedures can sometimes result in serious complications, although outcomes vary depending on the procedure, the individual and other medical factors.
Following his death, Ubiribo was laid to rest in London. His funeral reportedly attracted several prominent personalities, including Davido, highlighting the relationships he had built within Nigeria’s entertainment and social circles.
The circumstances surrounding his death have now been formally addressed through the UK inquest, which linked the fatal pulmonary embolism to the cosmetic procedure performed in Thailand.
Ubiribo’s death serves as a reminder of the importance of seeking qualified medical advice before undergoing any cosmetic treatment and understanding the potential health risks involved.
