Veteran Nollywood actor passes on after battle with cancer

Veteran Nollywood actor Tom Njemanze has passed away at the age of 75 after a long battle with prostate cancer.

According to TVC News, the celebrated actor died on Thursday, July 17, 2025, following months of declining health, but his family chose to keep the news private.

Though he had been bedridden for some time, many close to him believed he was on the road to recovery, until news of his passing broke.

Tom Njemanze rose to prominence in the 1990s and became a household name for his compelling performances in Nollywood classics such as TokunbohPounds and DollarsAtosaIssakabaOsuofia in LondonBrain Box, and Igbotic Love.

Njemanze carved out a legacy as one of the enduring pillars of Nigerian cinema.

His contributions helped shape Nollywood’s golden era, earning him admiration across generations of movie lovers.

Tributes have begun pouring in from fans and colleagues across the continent, celebrating his talent and remembering his immense influence on the Nigerian film industry.
