Some customers of Menzgold have proposed an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) to enable them retrieve their locked up investments with the company.

At a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, they argued that the ADR was a sure way of getting them their investments instead of the criminal trial initiated by the state against the Chief Executive Officer of Menzgold, popularly known as NAM 1.

Speaking at the press conference, the spokesperson of the customers, Fred Forson said: “We CACM [Coalition of Aggrieved Customers of Menzgold] have no interest in prosecution of NAM 1, except to retrieve our locked up investment.”

“We want to hear from NAM1, we have supported him all this while and it is time we hear from him…we want to demand from the CID that we want to meet Nana Appiah Mensah in person. Wherever he is, he needs to address us as leaders of Menzgold customers,” Mr Forson said.

Mr Forson said the customers were of the opinion that government was conniving with NAM1 to “steal and share” their investments.

“If it is not a deliberate attempt on the part of the government to shield and protect Nana Appiah Mensah to loot and create and share our investments, then this is the time that the government should be transparent…and let us know what is happening with our investments.”

“We are really uncomfortable and alarmed that NAM1 have been remanded for two long weeks despite the fact available of the true status of NAM1,” he said.

NAM1 after about six months of sojourn in the United Arab Emirates where he was involved in a court case returned to Ghana on July 11, 2019.

He was subsequently arraigned in court on fraud charges and remanded in police custody reappear on July 26, 2019. This is to enable the police continue with their investigations on the allegations of fraud against NAM1.

He is said to have defrauded about 16,000 customers of of his company in the sum of Gh 1.68 billion.
