Update: Four confirmed dead in Nsawam accident

Four (4) persons have been confirmed dead in the motor accident which occurred at Nsawam in Eastern region.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, the accident occurred on Monday February 7,2022 at about 11:30am .

He said suspect driver yet to be identified in-charge of Mercedes Benz truck with registration number GT 7176 N was loaded with unspecified quantity of cement from Accra to Nsawam and on reaching a section of the road at Prince Boateng Memorial school, the brakes of the truck allegedly failed.

The truck crashed into several vehicles ahead of him and rammed into some pedestrians and food vendors killing four (4) female adults instantly.

The bodies were removed and deposited at Nsawam Government hospital morgue for preservation, identification and autopsy.

According to DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, the accident vehicles were being towed from the scene for free flow of traffic.

Efforts being made to get the suspect driver to assist investigation.

Today is a market day in the area.

The Police, fire service and NADMO officials are currently at the scene removing the victims to Nsawam Government Hospital.
