One dead, others injured in military-civilian clash at Nyinahini

One person has been shot dead in an alleged clash between a group of military men and some youth in Nyinahini, Ashanti Region.

Five others sustained injuries.

According to an eyewitness, Rev. Francis Nyamekye, the officers confronted the youth for wearing camouflage attire, resulting in a clash.

The military allegedly shot into the crowd, leading to the death and injuries.

“One person died at the scene, while the other five victims were rushed to the Nyinahini Government Hospital. One individual has been transferred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital,” he said.

The community has been thrown into a state of fear. Neither the police nor the military has commented yet on the incident, although unconfirmed reports suggest that the deceased and the other injured persons may have been involved in an illegal activity.
