Two Togolese nationals arrested over voter registration fraud
In an operation led by National Security, two Togolese nationals were detained in the Buem Constituency of the Oti Region’s Jasikan District.
The operation, based on intelligence reports, culminated in the arrests on Sunday, May 19, 2024, as reported by dailyguidenetwork.com.
According to the Daily Guide, sources within National Security revealed that the individuals were allegedly transported into Ghana by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to participate in the current voter registration drive.
It is suspected that these individuals are part of a larger contingent orchestrated by NDC local leaders. Upon the security forces’ arrival, the majority of the group evaded capture, leaving only the two now in custody.
The suspects are being held at the Jasikan Divisional Police Command, where they are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
The incident has prompted heightened police vigilance and sparked widespread concern regarding the integrity of the voter registration process.
