Two suspects arrested for unlawful possession of firearms

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects for possessing firearms without lawful authority following an intelligence-led operation on Tuesday, July 9, 2025.

The operation, conducted by the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit, targeted known criminal hideouts in Nweneso, Trabuom, and Nkwawie.

It resulted in the arrest of Acheampong Kwadwo, aged 21, and James Antwi Adjei, aged 24.

During the operation, police retrieved two pump-action shotguns—one bearing the serial number ASAO 2164 2021 and another without serial identification.

Authorities suspect the weapons may have been stolen and intended for use in planned robbery operations within the Atwima Districts and parts of Greater Kumasi.

The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while the seized firearms have been retained as evidence.
