Ghana Premier League winner Samartex pockets $33K as prize money

Samartex will pocket a whopping amount of $33K after emerging as champions of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign.

The Timber Giants secured their first Ghana Premier League title after defeating Bibiani Goldstars on matchday 32.

They were officially crowned champions on Sunday, June 16, 2024, in their final day game against Accra Lions.

In a special coronation match that afternoon, Samartex secured a 2-0 home victory over Accra Lions at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex.

Emmanuel Mamah scored a stunning goal in the 3rd minute, and they went into recess with the advantage.

In the 87th minute, Ebenezer Papa Ocran netted a brilliant goal to seal a comfortable win for the hosts as they concluded the campaign in style.

With this victory, Samartex finished the season with a total of 61 points from 34 games.

However, Samartex, the eventual Ghana Premier League winners, were adorned with their medals at a colorful ceremony in Samreboi.

The atmosphere in Samreboi was electrifying as the team celebrated their league triumph with flair.

Having emerged as champions, Samartex is expected to take home a whopping amount of $33K.

Meanwhile, Accra Lions and Berekum Chelsea, who finished in second and third positions, will take home $13K and $6.6K respectively.

Samartex will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League campaign next season.
