Two Leadership groups at Kejetia fight over metro Procurement

Opposition by a section of the Kumasi City Market traders over the open tender process to source meters for the Kumasi City Market has been described as a misplaced priority.
According to the Kumasi City Market Traders Union, managers of the market facility should not be carried away by the tension mounted by those who are opposed to their position and forge ahead to pursue the intended open tender process to the letter.
The trader’s union whose unflinching support to management and the board’s position is unwavering believes the open tender process is the best avenue  to ensure competition, fairness, effectiveness and accountability.
The union which is made up of the majority traders has decided  to object to those calling for the sole sourcing on the grounds that the situation and conditions for the provision of the meters do not support their argument and seasoning.
Moreover an earlier attempt by those campaigning for the sole sourcing and accompanying  quotations raises a lot of eye brows.
“We are therefore entreating the managers of the facility to go ahead with their position whereby procurement conditions as prescribed by law will be duly adhered to in the interest of our trader”, the union  insists.
