Saint-Denis police reportedly arrested two freelance journalists in Paris after they covered a protest in Seine-Saint-Denis, a suburb of Paris, against the 2024 Olympic Games.

French outlet Reporters Without Borders (RSF) reported that the journalists, named Patricia Huchot-Boissier and Arnaud Villette, were detained for 10 hours following the arrest.

The report confirmed that the two accredited journalists were later released without charges.

Speaking with RSF following his release, Villette said: “It was a detention that lasted nearly ten hours for absolutely nothing.”

On the other hand, Patricia shared her terrible experience during her short time cells.

“It was just unbearable. They locked us up in a cell that measured two by four meters.”

The protest was organized by Saccage 2024, an activist group that has been critical of the Paris Olympic Games committee.

This is the second protest to hit the Olympic Games after the Extinction Rebellion collective held one in July in the centre of Paris.

According to reports, journalists were prevented from covering the protest, which led to the arrest of about 50 protesters.
