Two drown in separate abandoned stone quarry dams

Two persons, a 42-year-old man and a 15- year old girl have been found dead in separate abandoned stone Quarry dams in two communities at Fetteh Kakraba and Gomoa Potsin respectively.

According to the Assemblyman for Fetteh Kakraba – Buduburam electoral area Lot Arthur the man’s death makes it five the number of persons who have drowned in the same abandoned dam within this year.

He appealed to residents of Fetteh Kakraba not to allow peoples to swim in the dam.

“Some of the people who swim and drowned in the dam are non-residents so we are appealing to people not to swim in the dam anymore in order to save their lives.

According to the Assemblymember, he suspects that some of the drowned persons are rather killed and dumped in the dam.

“How can someone swim with his or her dress, this makes us suspect somebody intentionally kills them and throws them into this dam,” he told Kasapa FM News Yaw Boagyan.

Meanwhile Chief of Fetteh Kakraba Nana Essel Amoanquandoh II appealed to the District Assembly to come and convert abandoned dam to dumping site else majority of his people will die.

On his part, the Administrator of Gomoa East District Assembly Razak Yayah said, he’ll engage the DCE so that they convert the dam to damping site as the chief is proposing.
