Two children drown at Jema after heavy downpour

Two children aged between 3 and 8 have drowned after hours of heavy downpour on Wednesday May 15, 2019 at Jema in the Kintampo South District of the Bono East Region.

The deceased persons have been identified as George Kwarteng and his sister Blessing Fosua.

A local journalist from the area, Kwabena Agyemang disclosed to MyNewsGh.comthat after the rainfall on Wednesday, the two went out to play along one of the streams unnoticed.

A pair of slippers belonging to the younger one fell into the running water and they tried to pick only to be swept away.

“It took the intervention of some youth from the community to trace the course of the stream and later discovered their dead bodies at a distance in the outskirts of the town”, he disclosed.

The bodies of the two have been deposited at the Kintampo government hospital morgue.
