Two Canadian nationals abducted in Ghana

Security forces are hunting gunmen who abducted two Canadian nationals in the Ashanti regional capital of Ghana.

The unidentified gang reportedly stopped and bundled the two at gunpoint at about 8:30 P.M. at Silver Spring avenue, around Vienna City, a popular pub in Kumasi.

One of the victims has only been identified as Lauren and is in Ghana with her other colleague on an exchange programme with the Entrepreneurship Department of the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU).

Media report suggests that the Canadian Embassy is collaborating with the Ghanaian police to locate the victims.

It is however not clear whether the abductors have made contact with the family of the victims or the Canadian Embassy to demand for ransom.

Police sources have confirmed the incident to Daily Mail GH.

Indian man abducted in Kumasi

Kumasi appears to be gaining notoriety in new wave of kidnappings with foreigners being targeted.

In April this year, a 30-year-old Indian man was kidnapped by some gun-wielding men who later demanded for a 500,000-dollar ransom after sending photos of the victim to his family with a gun pointed to his head.

He was later rescued at Parkoso in the Asokore-Mampong Municipality by a team of police officers with the help of Telcos.
