Troops eliminate five Boko Haram insurgents, recover firearms
The troops of Operation Fire Ball, a subsidiary operation under Operation Lafiya Dole, have eliminated five insurgents during different clearance operations in Borno State.
They also injured many of the criminals and recovered firearms and foodstuff from their warehouse, which was destroyed.
A statement on Sunday by the acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brig. Gen. Bernard Onyeuko said troops of Army Super Camp 11 Gamboru-Ngala on Friday, engaged and killed two insurgents at Garal village and Bulankesa community.
On the same day, it explained that the troops of Strong Response Area Pulka conducted a robust clearance patrol at area Ashigashiy, noting that two terrorists were neutralized during a firefight while several bags of assorted bags of grain and other food items were recovered and the logistics warehouse destroyed.
The statement read, “Similarly, on 27 November 2020, troops of 27 Task Force Brigade laid in wait for some suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP criminals around Doksa general area. Troops made contact with the criminals and engaged them with superior gunfire forcing the terrorists to flee into the bush in disarray.
“ In the aftermath of the encounter, one BHT/ISWAP criminal was neutralized. The following items were recovered: one AK47 rifle, two mobile phones, one bow, and arrow and terrorists pass slip(identification pass). The recovered items are in custody for profiling.”
