Manchester United and Chelsea are considering a possible swap deal that involves Alejandro Garnacho and Christopher Nkunku.
It is understood that the two Premier League heavyweights first had talks about potential separate deals at the end of December.
This was revealed by football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, via his X account.
Romano claims “it could still be an idea for the two clubs” this January window.
He wrote: “Manchester United and Chelsea had initial talks about potential separate deals for Nkunku and Garnacho at the end of December.
“As @RobDawsonESPN reported today, it could be still an idea for the two clubs…
“…but NOT concrete, close or advanced at this stage.”
United winger, Garnacho, would favour a move to Chelsea over Napoli, according TyC Sport.
The Serie A club have already seen a bid rejected for the 20-year-old as United initially held out for a £70million.
But Garnacho’s agents were in attendance at Stamford Bridge on Monday night to watch Chelsea beat Wolves 3-1.
United’s hierarchy held further talks with Napoli on Tuesday and reports in Italy claim that they have now reduced their asking price to €65m (£54.8m).
