Togbe Afede wants Hearts to be like TP Mazembe

Board Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak Togbe Afede XIV has aimed at building a brand that will replicate the achievement of DR Congo side TP Mazembe.

The industrious business mogul and football administrator believes with the structures being laid for the club, soon, fans will be proud Phobians.

The president of the national House of Chiefs believes that for Hearts to be able to compete with other top clubs on the continent, they must keep their good players, reason they do not like trading players with clubs on the continent.

Togbe in an interview with GTV Sports+ disclosed why the club has been recruiting top international players and the vision of the club going forward.

“We have not been doing well locally but not on the continent. The continental challenge is with all Ghanaian clubs,” he started.

“We’re putting in place good strategies to ensure that the club regains its lost glory just like TP Mazembe is doing.

“We now have some top players joining the club like Danjuma Kuti, Lalawale and Eric Dizan and all is geared at making the club better.

“With the structures being put in place, very soon, the fans will understand us. Now the criticism isn’t like before. They now understand things,” he added.

Hearts of Oak were returning to winning ways after blowing off Olympics 4-0 in the Ghana Premier League when the season was forced to a halt by the outbreak of COVID-19.
