Three men arrested for attempted murder

Three young men allegedly attempted to strangle a rider of the popular ‘John Mahama Camboo’ at Kilampobile, a community on the outskirts of Bole but he managed to escape.

On Saturday 4th August 2018, between the hours of 5:00pm to and 6:00pm, a passenger tricycle rider plying Bole town and Choribang a suburb in Bole took some passengers to Choribang on one of his usual rounds. On the return trip, he met three young men who chartered him and asked him to take them to Kilampobile No. 1, a village few kilometres from Bole, to take their money from someone who bought detergents from them on credit.

On their way to Kilampobile, the tricycle rider saw, through his side mirror, one of the three young men signal his colleagues via sign language and immediately, the one in the middle held his throat from behind.

The tricycle rider who narrated his ordeal to Nkilgi Fm’s morning show host Adam Akilu Gideon Abrantie said he struggled with them and managed to park at the edge of the road.

The three young men who are from Wa tried to take him to the bush and seal his mouth shut with super glue, but he fought back and managed to escape with bruises and wounds on his neck.

Upon arrival at the Bole custom barrier after his escape, he reported what happened to the customs officers present and they escorted him to the scene.

The passenger tricycle was abandoned after the three young men failed to bolt with it. They stole the tricycle’s music player, broke into the money box of the motorking and took away 80 cedis.

Nkilgi FM also followed up on the matter at the Bole District Police, where Commander ASP Azumah disclosed that the there is a complaint has been filed on the issue.

According to the Police Commander, the Kilampobile community managed to apprehend the culprits after spotting them in the vicinity and then handed them over to the Police.

The Bole District Police Commander said no weapon was found on the boys and no money was found on them but the MP3 player was found on them.

ASP Azumah posited that from their preliminary investigation, the case was not attempted murder but conspiracy to commit crime and robbery.
