Three arrested, over GH¢140k recovered in foiled robbery at Nyanikrom

The Western Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with a daylight robbery near Shama Junction at Nyanikrom.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, 9th July 2025.
The suspects have been identified as 34-year-old Francis Mensah, alias Francis Kwaw; 32-year-old Ebenezer Cofie; and 35-year-old Samuel Bentum.
In a statement, the police explained that the suspects were arrested following a targeted surveillance operation based on credible intelligence.
According to the police, the suspects with insider information were planning to ambush company officials transporting cash meant for salary payments.
At 12:00 p.m. on the day of the incident, the company staff withdrew a significant amount of money from a bank in Takoradi.


On their way back to the office, their vehicle was intercepted by armed suspects riding a motorbike and an unregistered saloon car near Unique School Junction in Nyanikrom.
The assailants reportedly smashed the vehicle’s window and fled with the cash.
However, due to the swift action by police personnel stationed in the area as part of the intelligence-led operation, three suspects were apprehended shortly after the incident.
The stolen amount, totalling GH¢149,500.00, was recovered in full.
The company driver, Maxwell Kofi Yeboah, who is believed to have played a role in the heist, is currently on the run, with efforts underway to apprehend him.
The Western Regional Police Command has assured the public of its continued commitment to combating crime and bringing all perpetrators to justice.
