‘They called me bad luck, tried to kill my husband’ – Empress Gifty recounts ordeal under past govt, jubilates with NDC

Empress Gifty is in high spirits following the National Democratic Congress (NDC) victory in the 2024 general elections.

The gospel musician, whose husband was a former Deputy National Security Coordinator under the NPP administration, has shared their tempestuous journey after he was ousted from both his position and the party due to his support for Alan Kyeremateng.

The couple has previously disclosed how they faced multiple death threats after a series of exposés following Hopeson’s exit from their camp.

It was widely condemned how Hopeson, who was said to have sacrificed a lot for the NPP, was treated unfairly by the party in the end.

In light of the NDC’s victory, Empress Gifty, who is elated by the NDC’s massive win, has revisited their painful experiences under the previous government and the public’s harsh treatment.

Clad in NDC colours and with the party’s official song playing in the background, Empress celebrated the victory, holding her husband’s portrait in her hands. In a heartfelt message, she said:

“This is what we call ‘back to sender! What was meant for evil, God has turned it for our good. This man, “she pointed to her husband’s portrait”, has suffered. They labeled me a bad luack, they called me a witch. People far beneath my husband would hurl insults at him, and though it devastated him, I was there to console him.

“He is a fighter! He worked tirelessly for the people, but they were ungrateful. They spread lies about him, saying he had affairs with women he hadn’t even slept with. They plotted and schemed with these women to destroy him.”

She continued to praise her husband and prayed for him: “Give space! Give space! My last killer! My baby! They say behind every successful man, there’s a woman, but in my case, behind every successful woman, there’s a man, a great king.”

Empress Gifty had originally supported the National Democratic Congress (NDC) before meeting her husband and later aligning herself with the NPP.

After her husband joined Alan Kyerematen’s “Movement for Change,” she actively campaigned alongside them.
