They asked me to pay bribe – Daniel Sosah on why he picked Niger over Ghana

Ghanaian-born Niger international Daniel Sosah has made some damning revelations about some happenings that nearly sabotaged his playing career.

According to the Kryvbas forward, some individuals within the Ghana Football Association demanded money when he expressed interest in playing for the Black Meteors of Ghana.

Speaking during an interview with Original TV, the 26-year-old disclosed how officials within the association overlooked his impressive stats for the season and instead sought money in exchange for a spot on the team.

“My stats were good, but they didn’t call me. They spoke to one of my team managers and were requesting money,” he said.

Sosah further revealed how the situation threatened to derail his football career. His lack of international football experience made clubs hesitant to sign him, which forced him to switch nationality to Niger to save his career. He, however, admitted feeling deeply hurt about not being able to play for Ghana.

“Guinea wanted to poach me, but I had made up my mind to play for Ghana. I’m hurt about not having played for Ghana, but that also motivated me,” he said.

“However, most clubs declined to sign me because I had no international experience. So, I had to join a national team to gain that experience. Therefore, I joined Niger after they made an offer,” he told Original TV.

Sosah was part of the Niger team that beat Ghana 2-1 in Accra during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in November 2024. He scored two goals for Niger during the qualifying campaign in six games.
