‘There’s nothing wrong with men marrying second wives’ – Hopeson Adorye tells Empress Gifty

During a live TikTok session hosted by Empress Gifty, a netizen inquired about the ideal type of marriage for a man.

In response, Hopeson Adorye explained that customary marriage, where a man can have two or more wives, is the ideal type.

“There is a mistake many women make. When they meet a man who is wealthy and capable of taking care of them, they reject his proposal because they don’t want to be a second wife, and instead choose a poor man,” he said.

Empress Gifty then asked her husband if he would ever marry another woman in addition to her.

“Babe, do you support second marriages? Take me for example, would you marry a second wife in addition to me?” she asked.

Hopeson Adorye responded, “The Bible supports second marriages, and I support it. However, because my marriage with you is an ordinance, I can’t marry a second wife.”

He added, “Also, single men shouldn’t engage in ordinance marriages that prevent them from having more than one wife.”
