There was no substance in Blakofe’s allegations – Deputy Tourism Minister

Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dr Ziblim Iddi says Akua Blakofe’s allegation against the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) had no substance.

Akua Blakofe, born Oheneba Akua Manfo, who was the former Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the GTDC early this year, accused the CEO, Kwadwo Antwi of failing to live up to the office’s mandate.

She alleged that Mr Antwi preferred travelling for per diem to executing his duties as head of GTDC.

After Blakofe’s rant and subsequent resignation from GTDC via social media, the media has had a hard time getting responses from Kwadwo Antwi and the Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Catherine Afeku, to the allegations.

Dr Ziblim Iddi rubbished all of Blakofe’s allegations in an interview with JoyNews’ MzGee.

“I think that we investigate matters if you have leads to pursue and if allegations are thrown out and you go in and there are no leads and you don’t find anything, I don’t think it is something… Let me say that the Ghana Tourism Development Company is one of our important agencies and the ministry takes the work they do there seriously. Those allegations were taken seriously and I think that if there was any substance to them, we would have pursued it to a logical conclusion,” he said.
