The ‘true’ story behind clash between Drogba’s ‘wife’ and ‘girlfriend’ at Ballon d’Or

In the video, Drogba arrived at the event with his rumoured girlfriend, Gabrielle Lemaire, but journalist Sandy Heribert, who co-hosted the awards, escorted him to the red carpet.

However, during the transition from Lemaire to Heribert, the latter raised her hand to adjust her dress, causing her sleeve to brush across Lemaire’s face.

The incident has been taken out of context, with many social media users misidentifying Heribert as Drogba’s wife and claiming she made a sudden visit at the event to take him away from his mistress.

Didier Drogba has not re-married since divorcing his ex-wife Lalla in 2021 after 20 years of marriage.

“(I) am not used to discussing my private life, but due to speculation in the media today, I will confirm that unfortunately after 20 years together, Lalla and I have made the difficult decision to go our separate ways,” He announced the separation via an Instagram post.

“We remain very close and our main goal has been our children and to protect them and the privacy of the family,” he added.

They had three children in their over two decades of marriage.
