The Forgotten community in Mpohor district

EDAA , a Small community in the Mpohor District of Western Region is a settler community with population size of a little over 500 inhabitants mostly Cocoa Farmers migrated from  ADA  in the Greater Accra Region.
Mpohor, the District Capital of Mpohor District is seven constituencies but five Districts apart from EDAA meaning  residents of  EDAA have to travel along seven constituencies (Wassa East ,Shama, ketan – Esikado, Efia , Takoradi, Kwesimintsim ,Ahanta West) or five Districts ( Daboase,,Shama, Sekondi Takoradi, Efia / Kwesimintsim ,and Ahanta West) to their District Capital ( Mpohor) to transact business or access information at the District Assembly’s office.
The Community can best be described as the worst deprived community in Ghana but my RECENT visit to the place proved contrary to that  perception.
I had the opportunity through a NGO to visit the community and moving from the District Capital Mpohor to the community was a hectic  assignment.
*EDAA* has NO Health Centre , NO Pipe , NO Toilet facility, NO cemetery , YES, NO cemetery and my interaction with the people revealed that for the Past twenty-five years NO DEATH has been recorded at the community.
The community which hitherto has NO ELECTRICITY was blessed by the appointment of Ignatius Asaah Mensah as the District Chief Executive by His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo, the Honourable DCE is a friend of the community for years who is abreast with the needs of the community so His appointment was a great day for the inhabitants.
The EDAA Community until the appointment of Ignatius Asaah Mensah had NOTHING in terms of Government projects but now are PROUD to be connected to the National grid with Street lights all over the community, l counted not less than twenty-one Street lights in the small community .
The indefatigable DCE, Honourable Ignatius Asaah Mensah has assisted them with a mechanized Bole – Hole that provides them with clean drinking water and has promised to provide them with a modern public toilet.
The youth in the community who mostly engage in Cocoa farming have now been assisted by the DCE, Honourable Ignatius Asaah Mensah to be TRAINED as dress makers, hairdressers. Mechanics  carpenters , drivers etc with a promise to provide them with kits to start their own business.
In an interaction with the people, they told me they have NEVER been visited by any politician except the DCE and this allegation is clear to any visitor.
There is NO drainage in the community but hardly can one see an open drainage around the place .
EDAA  is a Community one will enjoy in a visit to Mpohor District.
