The revelation was made during a TV3 report commemorating the 25th anniversary of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s reign as Asantehene.
Justice, a museum worker, shared details about the vintage appliance.
He explained that the refrigerator has never undergone any maintenance or repairs since it was acquired 74 years ago.
This includes never having the motor replaced or the refrigerant gas refilled.
“This fridge, 74 years this year, still works. We have never changed the motor; we have never filled the gas. As it was in 1950, so it is today,” he said.
“I am telling you; this fridge is 74 years old this year. We haven’t changed the motor since then, we haven’t filled the gas,” he added.
The TV3 presenter inspected the fridge and found it in perfect working condition, with ice still forming inside when turned on.
