Tanzanian giants Young Africans have set sights on securing the services of Ghana international goalkeeper Richard Ofori ahead of the new season.

The Black Stars’ deputy captain is leaving Orlando Pirates following the expiration of his contract.

Ofori is expected to find a new club before the commencement of the 2024/25 football season.

According to reports, the former Maritzburg goalkeeper has attracted interest from several clubs, including Young Africans.

The Tanzanian outfit is said to be the frontrunner in the pursuit of the experienced Ghanaian shot-stopper, having engaged the player’s representative over a move.

Young Africans are reportedly pushing hard to lure the services of the Black Stars shot-stopper to provide competition in the goalkeeping department.

Ofori joined Orlando Pirates from Maritzburg United in 2020. During his stint with the club, the former Wa All Stars goalkeeper managed 58 games, conceding 36 goals and keeping 30 clean sheets.

The Ghanaian goalkeeper lost his number-one role at the club due to injury setbacks, making just three appearances in the recently concluded campaign.

He missed out on the Black Stars squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifying games against Mali and the Central African Republic.

Ofori has been capped 28 times for Ghana and was the safe pair of hands at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast, where Ghana bowed out at the group stage.
