Talk to your boy Anas – Wontumi cautions Kweku Baako

Editor in Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has been urged to advise investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas following his approach of fighting corruption.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako who gave the advice accused Anas of doctoring interviews he has with people.

His comments follow another explosive documentary by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw revealing government officials circumventing measures to curb illegal mining.

To him, Anas is more corrupt and an enemy than the “saviour” people perceive him to be.

“Anas is known for duping people because his line of investigation is absurd and should be condemned. Kweku Baako doesn’t know his boy well and so he needs to advise him well because he is disgracing our country. His way is an orthodox way and therefore should be condemned. I think Anas is an enemy and a Pharisee to the state” he stated on Accra based Okay FM monitored by Adomonline.com.

The undercover work showed the officials receiving various sums of money to facilitate the process and provide security protection for the mining company.

The secret filming captured Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Mr. Charles Cromwell Bissiw, taking cash amounting to GH¢35,000 in three meetings through one Andy Owusu, a connection man, to circumvent the process to renew the mining license for ORR Resources Enterprise.

But Chairman Wontumi who appears to be singing from the same hymn book as his party colleague, Kennedy Agyapong said his methods and style of investigative journalism is questionably inappropriate.

The resultant effect of his works he noted only creates unnecessary anxiety and panic without bringing about the real social and moral change we need.
