Sarkodie sues Ecobank over lookalike advert

Ghanaian rapper Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Ecobank Ghana Limited at the High Court’s Commercial Division in Accra.

The legal action stems from allegations that the bank used an image resembling Sarkodie in an advertisement without his consent, violating his intellectual property rights.

According to court documents circulating on social media, Sarkodie claims Ecobank’s unauthorised use of his likeness has caused him reputational and financial harm.

The rapper is seeking general damages, a permanent injunction to prevent the bank from further using his image, and an order for the removal of all related publications, including digital and print materials.
