Shatta Wale ‘ambushed’ me with the money – MC Portfolio clears air over GH₵5,000 gift

Ghanaian hypeman, MC Portfolio, has cleared the air surrounding his acceptance of a gift of GH₵5,000 from Shatta Wale on live TV.

MC Portfolio, who is a close associate of dancehall musician Stonebwoy, came under fire after he accepted the gift.

Despite clarifying that his relationship with Shatta was professional, many, including Stonebwoy’s associates, viewed this act as disloyalty due to the rivalry between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.

However, in an interview on Hitz FM on November 30, 2024, MC Portfolio explained that he had never requested money from Shatta Wale and that the dancehall star’s gesture was unexpected.

“I have never requested a dime from him, and Shatta Wale knows because if he had given me a dime and I’m speaking for Stonebwoy, he would have come out to say this.

“We were there when Shatta Wale said, ‘Oh, so all this while that you have worked for me, I have never even appreciated you. I didn’t know. I had forgotten.’ Based on that, he ambushed me with that amount,” he said.

He indicated that he had asked Shatta Wale to explain his reasons for giving the money to avoid any misunderstandings.

“So I told him, ‘Please tell the world why you want to give me this money before I take it so that people don’t misconstrue it. That’s what happened.

“People know that the relationship between Stonebwoy and me is something that I’m never ready to trade,” he said.

MC Portfolio assured that his loyalty to Stonebwoy is unwavering, despite the public gesture from Shatta Wale.
