Mostly cloudy weather is expected to persist across Ghana on the evening of Sunday, August 16, 2026, with isolated thunderstorms and rainfall likely in several parts of the country.
According to the latest weather outlook, the northern, transition and middle sectors are expected to experience isolated thunderstorms or rain during the night. Some coastal and inland areas could also record slight rain or drizzle.
Mist and fog patches may develop early on Monday morning, particularly along the coast as well as in mountainous and forested areas. The conditions could reduce visibility in some locations, making caution important for motorists and other road users.
Relatively cool temperatures are also expected during the night and early morning across the country.
Southern Ghana
Most parts of southern Ghana are expected to remain mostly cloudy tonight.
These areas include Aflao, Anloga, Accra, Kasoa, Winneba, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Axim, Kumasi, Obuasi, Tarkwa and Sefwi Bekwai.
Slight rain is expected in Ho, Koforidua, Akim Oda and Kwahu Tafo.
Forest and Transition Zones
Some areas in the forest and transition zones are expected to experience rainfall.
Kete Krachi, Atebubu and Ejura are forecast to receive rain, while Kintampo, Goaso, Sunyani, Techiman and Sampa are expected to remain mostly cloudy.
Northern Ghana
The northern sector is expected to record some of the more active weather conditions tonight.
Thunderstorms accompanied by rain are expected in Yendi, Tamale, Bolgatanga and Nalerigu.
Rain is also expected in Wa and Jirapa, while Bole and Damongo are forecast to remain mostly cloudy.
Sea Conditions
The state of the sea is expected to be rough.
People travelling by sea or engaging in activities along the coast are therefore advised to exercise caution and pay attention to weather and marine conditions.
Motorists are also encouraged to drive carefully, particularly in areas affected by rainfall, thunderstorms, mist or fog, as reduced visibility and wet roads could make driving conditions more challenging.
Overall, Ghana is expected to experience a mostly cloudy night, with rainfall and thunderstorms affecting selected parts of the country.
