Lawyer William Kusi, Counsel for Akosua Serwaa, Dies in Germany

Ghana’s legal fraternity has been thrown into mourning following reports of the death of Lawyer William Kusi, who represented Akosua Serwaa in the high-profile legal dispute surrounding her marriage to the late Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba.

The lawyer reportedly died in Germany on November 7, 2026. News of his passing was announced by the Ashanti Regional branch of the Ghana Bar Association in a statement signed by its secretary, Shadrack Obeng-Yeboah.

William Kusi was the Managing Partner of Dominion Chambers, a law firm based in Adum, Kumasi. He was recognised within legal circles for his professional work and gained wider public attention following his involvement in the legal proceedings concerning the family and marital affairs of the late highlife musician.

His representation of Akosua Serwaa placed him at the centre of one of Ghana’s widely discussed legal disputes involving the late Daddy Lumba. The case attracted considerable public interest, particularly because of questions surrounding the musician’s marriage and the rights of his surviving spouse.

As legal counsel for Akosua Serwaa, Kusi was involved in proceedings connected to the dispute, which generated extensive discussions across traditional media and social media platforms.

His death in Germany has consequently attracted attention from members of the public who followed the legal developments and became familiar with his role in the matter.

Reports indicate that he may have suffered a heart attack before his death. However, the reported cause has not been independently confirmed by his family or through an official medical statement.

The announcement by the Ashanti Regional branch of the Ghana Bar Association has prompted mourning within the legal community, with colleagues and members of the public expected to remember his contribution to the profession.

Kusi’s passing is particularly significant given his professional responsibilities at Dominion Chambers and his involvement in a legal matter that attracted national attention.

Beyond the publicity surrounding the Daddy Lumba case, his death represents a loss to the legal profession, where lawyers play an important role in representing clients, interpreting the law and ensuring that disputes are addressed through established legal processes.

The circumstances surrounding his death, including the reported heart attack, may become clearer as further information emerges from his family and professional colleagues.

Meanwhile, his passing comes at a time when public interest in the legal developments involving Akosua Serwaa and the estate of the late Daddy Lumba remains considerable.

His death has added another development to a story that has continued to attract attention in Ghana’s entertainment and legal circles.
