Gov’t to construct Tamale-Salaga road – Bawumia

Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said Cabinet has identified the Tamale-Salaga road among others across the country, for construction this year.

“This road I plied from Tamale to Salaga is a major concern to your good friend, President Nana Akufo-Addo and it is one of the roads government will work on,” Dr Bawumia told the Kpambe Wura, Bismark Haruna Deri and his elders in Salaga as part of his Ramadan tour of the Northern Region.

The Vice-President also seized the opportunity to call on the chiefs to pray for government to enable them deliver their promises.

Dr Bawumia said the Akufo-Addo administration, in eighteen months, has been able to implement some of its campaign pledges.

He listed the Free Senior High School policy, restoration of allowances for teacher and nurse trainees, the Planting for Food & Jobs programme, Nation Builders Corp which is expected to employ 100, 000 graduates, among others that have been implemented so far.

The Vice-President also assured the people that the perennial water crisis in the area will end, considering that the Managing Director of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), Dr Clifford Braimah is putting in significant measures to address the problem.

Meanwhile, the Paramount Chief of the Kpambe traditional area, Kpambe-Wura Bismark Haruna Dery lauded government for implementing some of the promised policies.

He said this has come to enhance the living standards of many Ghanaians, especially the youth.

He complained about inadequate tractor services in the area, adding that it was affecting the implementation of the Planting for Food & Jobs programme in the district.
