Watch highlights of Asante Kotoko’s 2-1 win over DC United in the USA

Asante Kotoko emerged victorious over Major League Soccer team DC United in a ceremonial match held in the United States of America.

Kotoko, in collaboration with the Ghana Select side, formed a team for the game due to their small squad size. They defeated DC United 2-1 to claim the Capital City Cup.

DC United took the lead with Justice Blay’s own goal, but Elvis Kyei Baffour equalised just before the end of the first half.

In the second half, Geoffrey Owusu scored a brilliant goal to put Kotoko in the lead.

The goal proved to be the winner as they held on for the victory at Audi Field in Washington, D.C.

The annual ceremonial match, organised by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in partnership with the Ghana Football Association, is part of the Ghana Week DC 2024 activities, scheduled from October 7-12, 2024.

However, visa issues overshadowed the match, resulting in Kotoko travelling with only a 14-man squad, including the technical team, and one player absconding upon arrival.
