Gabon, Burkina Faso military rulers congratulate Mahama for winning 2024 election

John Dramani Mahama, the President-elect of Ghana’s 2024 election, has been receiving congratulatory messages from presidents of other African countries, following his victory.

John Mahama’s victory in the 2024 election was confirmed by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who held a press conference on December 8 to announce his concession.

Dr. Bawumia, while committing himself to the peace of the country, stated that he would help John Mahama go through the transition process.

“From our own internal collation, the election results indicate that former President H.E. John Dramani Mahama has won the presidential election decisively. The NDC has also won the parliamentary election, even though we await the final collation of a number of seats. I believe ultimately these will not change the outcome.

“I said during the signing of the Peace Pact that I was sure of two things. Ghana will win, and peace will reign. The people of Ghana have spoken. The people have voted for change at this time, and we respect that decision with all humility. I thank God Almighty for how far he has brought me and I submit to His will,” Bawumia said.

Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, the Transitional President of Gabon, in a social media post, congratulated Mahama for the victory.

“My sincere congratulations to President John Dramani Mahama (@JDMahama) on his election as President of Ghana. This moment, marked by democratic maturity, inspires all of Africa. Gabon intends to strengthen its ties of friendship and cooperation with Ghana,” he wrote.

Ibrahim Traoré, the military ruler of Burkina Faso, also took to his social media pages to applaud Mahama for the victory.

“I extend my warmest congratulations to President John Dramani MAHAMA for his resounding victory in the presidential election this Saturday, December 7, 2024.

“I express the hope that his mandate at the head of the sister Republic of Ghana will see the strengthening of the age-old relations of good neighborliness between our two countries and that together we will build a stronger and better integrated sub-regional space for the happiness of our peoples,” his post reads.
