President and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, has arrived at Rufaro Stadium, where the country is marking the 46th Zimbabwe Defence Forces Day celebrations.
President Mnangagwa was accompanied by the First Lady, Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, as the national event officially got underway in Harare.
The Defence Forces Day celebrations bring together senior government officials, members of the security services, invited guests and members of the public to commemorate the contribution of Zimbabwe’s defence forces to the country.
The arrival of the President and First Lady marked a key moment in the day’s programme, with the celebrations expected to feature military displays, ceremonial proceedings and other activities highlighting the role and responsibilities of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces.
