Fire guts server room of GRA office at Madina

The server room of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) office at Madina, Zongo junction near Oman FM caught fire on Monday, December 16, 2019.

According to sources, the main section for record-keeping went up in flames though the cause of fire in the building is currently unknown.

Several attempts by journalists to reach officials on the grounds for information proved futile.

Background

In the same vein, the Kwame Nkrumah Circle branch of the GRA head office annex on December 1, 2019, equally caught fire where four persons sustained injuries.

Reports indicated that the fire started at the top floor offices of the GRA Head Office Annex but spread fast to other adjoining offices. Eyewitnesses said thick black smoke began to fill the clear Sunday sky around 9:00 am before the flames became visible.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces firefighters joined in the fight, but even with the reinforcement and the constant supply of water to the scene, the inferno remained stubborn and refused to respond to the volumes of water directed at it.

Joy News also reported that the fire hit the Archives Department of the GRA which has a lot of combustible materials.

However, the cause of the fire was also unknown.
