Kennedy Agyapong’s claims inspired NDC’s ORAL campaign – Journalist alleges

A surprising revelation has emerged regarding the origins of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s flagship campaign message, ‘Operation Recover All Loot’ (ORAL).

According to journalist Kwaku Dawuro, the slogan was indirectly inspired by former Assin Central legislator Kennedy Agyapong, who had accused members of his own party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), of corruption.

Speaking on the Movement in the Morning political show, Dawuro claimed that ORAL gained traction after Agyapong repeatedly alleged that certain NPP officials had misappropriated state resources.

“He said Mr. Henry Quartey had stolen government lands and sold one to him, which got him into trouble,” Dawuro recounted.

These remarks, he suggested, caught the attention of then-candidate John Dramani Mahama, who incorporated the idea into his campaign, vowing to retrieve alleged stolen assets if elected.

The NDC’s adoption of the message fueled their promise to hold NPP officials accountable, reinforcing their stance on corruption and governance.

The claims add another layer to the post-election political discourse, raising questions about how campaign narratives are shaped—and the unexpected influences behind them.
