Four boys rape 14-year-old girl

A group of four young boys at Choggu-Mma Naayili, a suburb of the Sagnarigu Municipality in the Northern Region stand accused of gang-raping a 14-year-old Junior High School pupil for an entire week.

Narrating her ordeal to Class News’ regional correspondent, Mohammed Gadafi, the victim said she was lured on 17 September 2018 into the house of one of the suspects who later left her in the company of his other friends who took turns to sleep with her.

The victim identified the suspects as Chalipang, Why, Adam and Yawa as she disclosed that Chalipang first deceived her, saying that, he was supposed to travel to Kumasi with his master and gave her out to two of his friends (Why and Adam) who slept with her for two days.

She narrated further that, Chalipang subsequently sent her to Yawa, who he described as his boy and he also raped her for four consecutive days.

“After the four days, Yawa asked me whether I was schooling and I said yes. He then said to me that, he will tell Chalipang to send me home because he has completed Senior High School (SHS) and doesn’t want to destroy my education. Chalipang also defiled me and beat me before he took me on his motorbike and brought me to my area,” she said.

The case was reported to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service in the municipality and the victim was given a medical form to visit a hospital for examination and report back to the police.

Meanwhile, a co-tenant of the victim’s family, Mr Mohammed Abdallah explained in an interview that, the victim could not get the necessary medical attention when they sent her to the Tamale Central Hospital.

He disclosed that, they were charged GHS300 before doctors could attend to her. However, they could not afford the cost of the medical examination.
