Salifu Ibrahim reveals why he turned down Hearts of Oak’s contract renewal offer

The former Eleven Wonders star joined the Kosovo-based outfit in August 2024, signing a three-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2027.

The enterprising midfielder joined FC Drita as a free agent after failing to extend his contract with Hearts of Oak after expiration of his contract.

Speaking to Fakye TV, Salifu Ibrahim disclosed he wanted a new challenge, hence the decision not to renew with the Ghanaian giants.

“I had talks with Hearts of Oak over contract extension, but I felt it was time to leave Ghana. I didn’t want to play in Ghana. I wanted to play in a different environment. In fact, I wanted a new challenge” he said.

The 24-year-old midfielder played a pivotal role in Hearts of Oak’s 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League title triumph. He clinched a total of five trophies during his tenure with the Phobians.

Salifu impressed with two goals and 10 assists in 32 appearances in his last season with Hearts of Oak.

The 24-year-old has made 17 appearances in the Kosovo top-flight, scoring one goals and delivering an assist. In all competitions, he has racked up 21 appearances for FC Drita.
