Trotro driver arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old passenger

The Police in Adeiso have arrested a driver for allegedly raping a 16-year-old passenger.

The incident is said to have occurred at Kwasi Tenten in the Nsawam Adoagyeri Municipality of the Eastern region.

Reporting the incident on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM, Prince Collins Bening said the driver allegedly held the victim at a knife point.

The victim (name withheld) is a senior high school student.

She was coming home from Volta Region to Adeiso-Amakurowm during the Easter holidays, and the driver, Kofi Baah, caught her inside the car after all the passengers in the car dropped at Nsawam and left only the schoolgirl in the car coming to Adeiso.

The reporter said the driver pulled a knife and threatened to harm her if she did not allow him to sleep with her.

For fear of her life, the victim could not resist the driver.

While in the act, the driver allegedly kept on threatening to harm the young victim.

After he allegedly raped her, the driver pushed her out of the car and drove off.

The victim came back home in pain and narrated her ordeal to the family.

The incident was reported to the police, and an investigation was launched into the matter on March 28, 2024.

It has also emerged that the father of the victim is a police officer who mounted a search for the driver, arrested him on Monday, April 21, 2024, and handed him over to the Adeiso Police.

Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and pleaded for mercy.

Prince Bening said the victim’s father was infuriated and wanted to assault the suspect but was stopped by other officers.

The police are preparing him for court to face prosecution for his alleged crime.
