Ghana’s new world-class aquatic centre shines at Africa Swimming Championship

While all of the nation’s attention was on football and whether the Accra Sports Stadium would be ready to host the Black Stars’ match with Sudan, Ghana was quietly delivering a fine international swimming tournament at Ghana’s world-class aquatic centre in Borteyman.

The tournament, Africa Aquatics Zone 2 Junior and Senior Swimming Championships, brought about 20 countries to Ghana for one reason: because Ghana boasts a world-class aquatic centre, which is regarded as the best in the sub-Region.

The 10-lane pool, with an equally impressive warm-up pool, defines the beautiful aquatic centre built by the Akufo-Addo Government as part of the impressive facilities at the Borteyman Sports Complex for the 13th African Games hosted by Ghana earlier this year.

Apart from the aquatic centre, other impressive facilities at the Borteyman Sports Complex have ensured that Ghana has become a destination of choice for international sports competitions.
