“stop the politics and tackle road safety issues” – radio presenters advised

General Manager for Bohye Fm 95.3 Mhz Mr. Kwame Awuah Nimfour has made a strong appeal to radio presenters and for that mater journalists in Ghana to minimise the rate at which they offer prominence to  political issues and shift their attention to matters related to road safety.

He set the record straight that too much inclination to the discussion of political issues on radio which is characteristic of majority of morning show hosts has heightened road accidents in Ghana.

This according to him is because they (radio presenters) are not willing to dedicate their airtime to educate the public on road safety regulations.

” All they think about is politics, forgetting that if all citizens die through accident, there will be nobody to vote for these politicians during electioneering period. Journalists in Ghana have what it takes to save our roads from accidents but I wonder why they are not utilizing it” he stated.

More airtime he underlined should be dedicated purely for the discussion of road safety issues, adherence to the code and possible dangers following their violation  by road users.

Mr. Awuah quickly underscored that, as the conscience of the public is touched through discussions related to road safety,  the rate of accident occurrence will be reduced in the process and will again serve as a catalytic support to the efforts of personnel of Ghana Road Safety Commission.

Mr. Kwame Awuah Nimfour who has been a strong road safety advocate for the past ten years holds the opinion that the fight against road accident is not a solo assignment but  a collective responsibility, adding that personnel of Ghana Road Safety Commission will fail  if they are left to combat it alone.

Mr. Kwame Awuah Nimfour, a proud winner of Best Male Akan Newscaster for the year 2017-2018 (awarded by FOKLEX MEDIA) also advised leaders of the various Christian denominations to capitalise on the Christmas occasion and sensitize members during church programs on the need to tread cautiously when using the road by obeying all road signs by avoiding over speeding, putting on seat belts, using of helmets among others.

“Christianity is not only about spiritual matters. Christianity also  demands that we (Christians) abide by regulations instituted by people who have been elevated by God to occupy positions of authority in a country.”, he stated.

In a Biblical allusion, he premised his call on Romans Chapter 13: 1-5; advising Christians to be law abiding as in their obeisance to road safety regulations.

” Any Christian who deliberately violates any of the road safety codes has violated the word of God”, he stressed.

Mr. Kwame Awuah commenced his advocacy role on road safety in the year 2008 at Pink Fm and there touched on pressing issues for five years.

He carried on with the passion after he was sign up for Bohye Fm 95.3Mhz.

He is a renowned, an experienced and a tried and tested broadcast journalist who is currently playing a managerial role for Bohye Fm.
