Special Voting records high voter turnout nationwide – Jean Mensa

The Electoral Commission has expressed its satisfaction with the high voter turnout recorded among Ghanaians during the Special Voting exercise on Monday, December 2, 2024.

Providing an update on the voting exercise during a media engagement, the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, stated that the various constituencies recorded high voter turnout percentages, with the minimum turnout being 83%, according to a report by citinewsroom.com.

Addressing the press, Jean Mensa also stated that an expected 18,774,159 registered voters, representing 55 percent of the total population, will be participating in the December 7 elections.

Mensa further said that the Commission has distributed all electoral materials and equipment to the regions in sufficient quantities, expressing her confidence that no shortages will occur in terms of the materials.

On media accreditation, she said the commission had provided accreditation of close to 10,000 to the media to give them access to polling stations, constituency and regional collation centres.

Emphasising the importance of eliminating misinformation and disinformation on Election Day, Mensa urged journalists to report accurate and truthful news to educate the general public about the elections.
