Soldiers, policemen in free-for-all street fight in Kumasi
Two policemen who went to the rescue of their colleague who was under attack by some military men of 4th Infantry Battalion at Sofoline in Kumasi were equally not spared their share of the beating by the enraged soldiers, MyNewsGh.com can report.
The soldiers also seized the magazine of the policemen’s service rifle in the process.
MyNewsGh.com has confirmed from the police that one of their colleagues on duty was indeed attacked by a group of army personnel from the 4th Infantry Battalion for reasons yet to be uncovered
In view of that, the Suntreso Patrol team led by one Sargeant Slim Laar was dispatched to the scene to rescue the affected officer.
But upon arrival at the scene, they could not locate the police officer and were told by civilians at the scene that the affected police officer was seen heading towards the military barracks.
The patrol team decided to pursue the police officer to the military barracks but midway, they detected that some group of soldiers emerged from the bush, blocked the road and pounced on the patrol team leader who was then wielding his service rifle loaded with ten rounds of ammunitions assaulted him together with the service driver.
They managed to remove the magazine of the riffle but when the rovers arrived at the scene, the assailants bolted with the magazine.
Meanwhile, the police officers have been issued with medical forms to attend hospital for treatment.
No arrest has been made and the Magazine with the rounds of ammunition has equally not been recovered.
