A self-styled military officer and four accomplices have been arrested in connection with the murder of Corporal Agartha Nana Nabin of the Northern Regional Police Headquarters.
MyNewsGh.com gathered that the suspects were arrested upon a tip off after one of them said to have been shot during the attack tried seeking medical attention at a health facility.
He was reported to have been apprehended and during interrogation named his accomplices who have also been arrested and are currently with police investigators at the Northern Regional Police Command.
The crack Police investigation team retrieved the two stolen weapons, the camouflage military uniform and mask they wore for the operation from the room of one of the suspects.
The police woman in her mid-30s was last Tuesday evening shot to death by military dressed armed robbers at a police check point on the Kumbungu road.
According to the account of the police, the incident occurred at about 10:45pm on Tuesday near Star Oil Filing Station when ash coloured salon car was signaled to stop on approaching the check point.
Four occupants , all armed men dressed in military camouflage’, wearing face masks and dessert boots suddenly got down and shot at the deceased killing her instantly.
The other policewoman in her attempt to take cover stumbled and fell and her weapon together with that of the deceased were taken by the robbers.
The third officer who had then taken cover, fired at the robbers but the robbers managed to escape with the two weapons.
