Social media users react to conviction of TV model who falsely accused French footballer of rape

Social media users have been airing their views on the conviction of a Russian model by a court in the Costa del Sol capital of Malaga, Spain.

The model, Luisa Kremleva, accused French footballer Theo Hernandez of rape in 2017.

During the hearing of the case, it came to light that Luisa Kremleva falsely accused the AC Milan defender.

After eight years of litigation, the Spanish court convicted her of making a false claim against the footballer and handed her a six-month suspended sentence.

She was also fined £1,500 after agreeing to a plea bargain deal with public prosecutors and admitting to perjuring herself by accusing French international Hernandez.

On social media, some sports lovers are not happy with the sentence as they believe it is not punitive enough and will not deter others from doing the same.

They are even more angered by the suspended sentence as the model will not serve the sentence unless she commits another crime in the next two years.

Conor McGregor, an American Mixed Martial Arts fighter, tweeted: “If it had gone the other way, the sentence would have been about 10 years for the footballer. The sentences should be replicated if proven to be lies. 6 months for attempting to put a person away for a large portion of their life with lies is NOT ENOUGH!”
