Six injured in violent attack over land dispute at Domeabra

Six people have been injured in a violent land dispute between residents of Danchira and Domeabra in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The conflict, which began on the evening of Tuesday, April 22, escalated at the outskirts of the Domeabra community with gunshots fired, leaving several individuals injured.

Some of the victims received initial treatment at a local health facility before being transferred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).

The following afternoon, a reprisal attack at the same location resulted in four more people sustaining machete wounds.

Francis Boateng, the Developmental Chief of Domeabra, told Adom News that the dispute began when workers were on a piece of land when a group from Danchira, led by one Ashaley, attacked them. He added that Ashaley later returned with an armed group and began shooting indiscriminately at the site.

Expressing concerns that the situation could worsen if not addressed, the chief called on the police to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation.

To restore order, the Weija Divisional Police Command, led by Superintendent Eric Amponsah, conducted patrols in both communities.
